The Rutgers-Camden Department of Public Policy and Administration, in partnership with the Rutgers Center for Executive Leadership in Government, is proud to offer the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) program, conveniently taught in Princeton, New Jersey. Classes are held twice a month, on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon, designed to accommodate the schedules of busy professionals.
Advance Your Career in Public and Nonprofit Leadership
The EMPA program is specifically tailored for experienced professionals aiming to take on advanced leadership roles in the public and nonprofit sectors. Whether you’re looking to advance in municipal, county, and state government, or step into executive-level positions in nonprofit organizations, this program prepares you for significant career growth.
This highly selective program is ideal for mid-career professionals and upper-level managers with at least five years of administrative and managerial experience. We do not require standardized test scores, and applicants can earn up to 12 credits for professional experience upon admission.
Complete your MPA degree in just two years with a flexible schedule that combines in-person and online learning. In-person classes are held on the first and second Saturdays of each month, while Zoom classes take place on the third and fourth Saturdays. This hybrid format allows you to build meaningful relationships with your cohort and faculty, while also leveraging technology to accommodate your busy professional life.
Cohort Model Promotes Collaborative Learning
The Executive MPA program admits students as part of a close-knit cohort, with a maximum of 20 students per class. This cohort model fosters a supportive learning environment that encourages collaboration, networking, and lifelong professional connections.
Courses are carefully designed to build and enhance essential leadership, organizational, policy, and public management skills. All classes meet on Saturday mornings and are supplemented with online materials to support your learning and success.
Earn Your MPA Degree in 24 Months
The program can be completed in 24 months, with one-week summer residencies held over two consecutive summers. Additionally, up to 12 credits may be awarded for your professional experience, allowing you to accelerate your progress toward earning your degree.
