Richard A Harris
(B.A., Duke University; M.A., Hofstra University; Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania)

Dr. Harris is Professor of Political Science and serves on both the Political Science and Public Policy faculties. He teaches and writes in the areas of American Politics and Public Policy. His specializations are Business and Government Relations, Environmental Policy, and the Congress. He is author of Coal Firms Under the New Social Regulation, (Durham, NC: Duke University Press, 1985), co-author [with Stanley Milkis] of The Politics of Regulatory Change: A Tale of Two Agencies, (New York: Oxford University Press, 2nd Edition,1996) and co-editor of Remaking American Politics (Transforming American Politics), (Westview Press, 1989). In addition to having contributed several chapters to anthologies on public policy, Harris has published in Polity for which he has also served as book review editor. He currently is working on a book length manuscript entitled "Government, Business and American Politics". Professor Harris has received research fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Brookings Institution as well as support for innovative teaching.

Dr. Harris also serves as Director of the new Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs. The Rand Institute seeks to create partnerships between the resources of Rutgers-Camden and the communities and private sectors of the South New Jersey / Delaware Valley region.
