Jay A. Sigler
(B.A., J.D., Ph.D., Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey)

Dr. Jay A. Sigler, a founding member of the Graduate Department of Public Policy and Administration retired at the end of the 1997-1998 academic year. Dr. Sigler taught at Kent State University and the University of Vermont before coming to Rutgers University in 1964.

Dr. Sigler holds both a J.D. and a Ph.D. degree in Political Science. He practiced law and also worked for several government agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Sigler has served as consultant to several agencies of New Jersey government. He is the author or editor of fourteen books and numerous professional articles and is well-known in the fields of public law, administrative law and civil rights. He currently is preparing a two volume work entitled, Civil Rights in America for Gale Research. This two-volume work will be published in 1998.

Dr. Sigler won many awards for his teaching and research, and currently serves on the top faculty planning agency of Rutgers University, the Committee on Standards and Priorities. He resides on Martha's Vineyard, MA; and is an avid fan of the baseball team, the Boston Red Sox.
