James A. Dunn
(B.A., LaSalle; M.A., Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania)

James A. Dunn is Professor of Political Science. He teaches and writes in the areas of European and American politics and public policy, and with a specialization in transportation policy. Before coming to Rutgers-Camden in 1978 he taught at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

Professor Dunn is the author of two books, Miles To Go: European and American Transportation Policies, (The MIT Press) and most recently Driving Forces: The Automobile, Its Enemies, and the Politics of Mobility (Washington, D.C.: Brookings Institute Press). He has served on the editorial board of Transportation Research and has published in the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, the Journal of Public Policy, Scientific American, Comparative Politics, Policy Studies Journal and International Organization among other professional journals.

Professor Dunn has been a consultant to the New Jersey Department of Transportation and served as chair of the South Jersey Transit Advisory Committee [1983-1988]. He has also served on the Camden County Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee and as a consultant to Amtrak (the National Railroad Passenger Corporation). He has been the recipient of a research fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Bonn, Germany, and the Rutgers Presidential Award for Distinguished Public Service.
