ALUMNI PROFILES
Educational Policy and Leadership Concentration

EVIDENCE OF SUCCESS

The Educational Policy and Leadership Concentration was created in 2003 to address the growing need for a new generation and a new brand of school leadership: one of “leadership for learning.”  Since 2005, 29 students have graduated from the MPA-Educational Policy and Leadership Concentration at Rutgers–Camden and our alumni have a 100% pass-rate for the School Leadership Licensure Assessment exam.

In particular, the original Camden City MPA Aspiring School Leaders Cohort completed their degrees in 2005 with a cumulative GPA of 3.5.  Since then, 16 of 17 graduates have received promotions to school leadership positions and are currently working in Camden schools or district level posts as principals, assistant principals, or supervisors.

Overall, the majority of MPA–EPLC alumni have gone on to school leadership or district supervisory positions in Camden and the state and others work in education programs at Rutgers University or are completing their doctorate studies.

Our alumni are changing school culture and promoting student achievement in schools like Camden High, Davis Elementary, Lanning Square, and Pyne Point Middle School, while some have even been hired as curriculum and professional development supervisors by the Camden Board of Education.
