John Hart is an Associate Director for the Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs (WRI) at Rutgers University in Camden. He has been in that position since June of 2005 and as the newest member of the executive team John oversees a variety of projects while also providing expertise and technical training to the University. His current projects include evaluating Camden City’s crime suppression activities, measuring the impact of illiteracy on Burlington County New Jersey and developing policy forums designed to improve regional planning for community development and mental health services in southern New Jersey. Prior to working at the WRI, John was a Deputy Chief of Staff for New Jersey’s Department of Human Services, prior to that he was an executive for Virtua Health System and a researcher for the Philadelphia Health Management Corporation. John has conducted research and program evaluation within Southern New Jersey and Pennsylvania for over 15 years and his work has focused in community planning areas such as health care, transportation and social service delivery. John lives with his wife Stephanie and two children in Lumberton New Jersey and serves on a number of boards in the community including the Boys and Girls Club of Camden County, the Walt Whitman Arts Center and the State Safe Neighborhoods and Gang Prevention Task Force.
