“PASA as one of the few graduate student organizations at Rutgers-Camden aims to serve as a resource to the campus student community as well as Camden City overall. I believe that PASA has a     potential to support Camden City community by means of MPA students' professional empowerment. PASA is a unique venue where students' professional growth may directly or indirectly impact the local community in the city of Camden.”

"PASA will allow us to make a meaningful contribution to the campus and Camden communities. Under PASA's umbrella we enhance our marketable skill sets, promote the MPA program, expand our networks and develop our strengths. As a full-time professional and full-time student, PASA teaches me to extend myself meaningfully. My commitment to the organization helps me to better understand how sacrifice drives successful entrepreneurship, innovation, and service. "

“I view PASA as an opportunity for building and maintaining connections among professors, students, alumni, and community. It gives us all an outlet to share ideas, experiences and networks and to remain connected as our lives and career paths guide us in different directions across the world.  I know that we can all gain a great deal from each other. I am most interested in learning from the experiences of professors and alumni and in finding ways to incorporate the experiences and interests of Camden residents into the PASA community.”

Undergraduate: Rowan University
Track: Public Management

E-mail: jdrivera@camden.rutgers.edu

“Vision Statement: I believe that PASA is a forum for students of public policy to voice and explore their personal interests in government.  Because of its emphasis on both academics and real world practicality in reference to politics and policy, PASA serves as a laboratory in which fresh minds and ideas may be cultivated.  In this vein, it is my earnest desire to see graduate students working along side faculty, administrators and real world professionals not in the capacity of students, but as colleagues.”

Kate Everett, PASA Community Outreach Officer

Undergraduate: Rutgers University, New Brunswick

MPA Track: International Public Service and Development

“There are a large number of Student Organizations functioning on our Camden campus, which makes picking one or two to become involved and active in a difficult decision. PASA however makes the opportunity costs lower, as our organization covers vast academic and community interests. Additionally, the networking enabled through the associations alumni gatherings and personal relationships built with advisory staff and professors are invaluable.”

Guadalupe Elizabeth Ramirez, Policy Think Tank Coordinator
Undergraduate: University of Southern California

MPA Track: International Public Service and Development

E-mail: geramire@camden.rutgers.edu

“I see all organizational contributions as opportunities for people who are learning skills in the classroom to apply those skills in the field.  PASA is one such avenue for professional development. As a resource, a forum for people committed to public service, and an umbrella organization for graduate students, it has great potential. I joined PASA to see if graduate students could mobilize their talents and spend their limited time doing something that benefits the community on a large scale.”
