About PASA

Public Administration Student Association (PASA) was founded jointly by a group of MPA students and faculty in 1985 to represent MPA students’ interests both at the Department for Public Policy and Administration as well as Rutgers University Camden levels.

Since its inception PASA has been actively involved with the department’s affairs, lobbying MPA students’ interests, and contributing to there personal and professional development. As one of the few graduate student organization at Rutgers University Camden campus PASA aims to serve as a resource to the University student organizations as well as Camden community agencies by providing support with research, capacity building, policy analysis and evaluation, institutional development etc.

In September of each year PASA conducts elections of its new leadership among the first year as well as the second year MPA students.

According to PASA Constitution, the elected positions include President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, SGA Liaison Officer, and three members of the Executive Board with each representing a particular MPA academic concentration. There are also a few appointed positions, such as Community Outreach Officer, Fundraising and PR managers, MPA Network Support Officer, Website Focal Point and Project managers. Both elected and appointed positions constitute the leadership of the organization with the rest of the MPA student body comprising its membership. Since PASA foundation, Dr. James Garnett served as a faculty advisor to the leadership team supporting its activities and providing his expertise to ensure effectiveness and high performance of the organization.

PASA annually sponsors a number of events (lectures, workshops and conferences) that are open for University students and community activists to attend. It closely partners with the Department for Public Policy and Administration, the Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs, the Center for Strategic Urban Community Leadership as well as a number of student organizations at Rutgers Camden campus etc.
